Christmas Wrap-Up 2012

Santa and my family hooked me up this year in a big way. Here is a taste of some of the bomb presents I got this past Christmas-

I want to get something engraved on the Madewell ID bracelet, and I think I’ve settled on “Toots” on the front and “let me see that tootsie roll” on the back. What?

There is some depth to that I promise. Not a deep water pool depth, but like a kiddie pool amount of depth. It has some family meaning. My family is just like Socrates family.

Layering A Bed, Whimsy Style

After mondays post on layering a bed, my other friend asked about putting together a more whimsical style bed. So this is for my girl friday, who loves to get her whimsy on.

This first one is a bit less feminine then whimsy can normally run, in case there is a man who would also like to lay in the bed.

On another note, this will be our last post until after Christmas. Monday is Christmas Eve, and ol’ Miss C over here still has one person to shop for- my dad. According to my mom there is only two things he wants- a bowler hat and a sweater vest. Ummmm….no. I think he got his wires crossed with Mr. Rogers. I refuse.

West Elm Palo Alto Launch Party

Last week, Miss C and I headed over to Palo Alto for the launch of the new West Elm store, and WE HAD A BLAST. Girls nights are such a great time. We hung out in the store, picked up a few fun items, enjoyed the DJ spinning tunes, and spent more than our share of time in the photo booth…

And in between the fun times, I managed to snap a few pics with my iPhone to share with you all!

How cute is this lady? I followed her around for a while trying to get a good pic….I know, super creepy.

 

We finished the night over a shared steak and salad. I mean, could there BE a better meal? I love me a good steak!

I get a bombardment of catalogs, most which end up in the recycle bin, but there are a couple that I thumb through every time they come. One is J Crew, and one is West Elm.

Here are some that jumped out at me from the J Crew January 2011 catalog

I love that outfit with the shiny buff pink puffy jacket, and that is something I would have walked right past in the store and probably actually thought was ugly. But I love it here. That is why I need catalog visuals when it comes to putting together clothes.

Annnnnd, The West Elm catalog had a ton of super great new bath products. Hello striped shower curtain. Hello awesomely zig-zagged bath mat. Oh, is that a striped hand towel I see?? What?? Enough with the stripes? Nev-a I say!

If Ever We Have More Than 100 Square Feet…

For the last 4 months I have been saving my home-decor budget (a whole $50 a month – woot!) in an attempt to give our living room a total overhaul. While this most definitely doesn’t include all new furniture (I would be saving for the next 3 years…), I have been looking at ways to make everything feel new: ie new paint, some new throw pillows for our couch, etc.

While I am sticking to my strict budget for the actual room overhaul, it’s also really fun to think “What would I want if I could decorate a room from scratch – and had no monetary constraints?”

So, here it is folks, the pieces that make up the current room of my dreams…
