My mom gave me a bunch of sticks that she got for free from a floral mart. I knew I liked them but felt like they needed a little “something”. A couple weeks before, my husband brought home this awesome, giant, thick-glassed vase that was left behind at an event that he worked at. Sticks, meet my new friend vase. Vase…..sticks.
Here is the before of the sticks (not that you need an image to know what a bunch of sticks looks like, but it helps with the impact of the after shot):
I got another can of Rust Oleum Glossy Red paint (my new favorite apparently), and sprayed. Note to users: should you have long blonde hair, you may want to tie it back when you spray paint stuff. You may or may not end up with slightly pink hair due to spray residue. Here is the after:
I was perusing through Etsy today, looking at people’s original art. Art is one of those things that I know I want more of, but I don’t really know anything about. I’m not even sure that I know what I like. I know nothing about the different styles or what I would even be looking for. I know that I think it can make a room, and I like it big.
Here are some that caught my eye
So after going through and looking at these together I have come to a few conclusions:
1. Apparently I am drawn to paintings with people in them
2. Also apparently I am drawn to paintings with females in them
3. I also seem to have a thing for paintings with girls who also have no faces.
My sweet friend Lulu (not her real name, but a term of endearment my family has bestowed upon her. We seem to have a thing for repetitive, two-syllable nicknames. Mimi, Titi, Lulu, Papa…who knows why). Lulu is also Miss Pomps wonderful dear friend, and so we have had wedding on the brain lately. I happen to be going through my sis’ wedding pictures two days ago, because, you know, when more than a year goes by after the wedding is the logical time to order pictures from said event, right?? So here are some where my boys are hogging the frame –
Wedding days are great days, even if it is not your own wedding. I was listening to the mix I made for my sis’ wedding today as I was painting Van’s room (my 3 year old). I love listening to it because it reminds me of her, and how great and joyful that day was. Happy wedding day Lulu!

For the last 4 months I have been saving my home-decor budget (a whole $50 a month – woot!) in an attempt to give our living room a total overhaul. While this most definitely doesn’t include all new furniture (I would be saving for the next 3 years…), I have been looking at ways to make everything feel new: ie new paint, some new throw pillows for our couch, etc.
While I am sticking to my strict budget for the actual room overhaul, it’s also really fun to think “What would I want if I could decorate a room from scratch – and had no monetary constraints?”
So, here it is folks, the pieces that make up the current room of my dreams…
This is the Ikea Lindved Table….a $20 table. I jazzed it up a bit for a teenage girls room that I’m working on (yup…that’s you Miss Macie!). Here’s what I did-
I started by taking blue painters tape, and sticking it down in random crisscrossing lines, making sure the edges of the tape were stuck down nice and tight so the lines would be clean. Then I spray painted it with Rust Oleum enamel glossy-red paint. It took two coats and some good drying time, and it came out like this-
Overall super easy, pretty fast, and it gives it a bit of punch, no?
Recently I received an adorable, and amazingly comfortable, pair of Honeydew undies courtesy of my mama-in-law Lynda, and her shop: Ambiance in the Capitola Mall.
I have long been a loyal wearer of Hanky Panky, but when I wore these cute new undies I found myself absolutely loving them! They are so comfortable, and are markedly lower in price than most alternatives of the same quality.
Here are some of the cute boyshort undies I’m eyeing from Honeydew:
Honeydew also makes a beautiful array of thongs! You can check out the full collection here.
And I have a VERY FUN surprise for all of you! JUST MENTION THIS POST AT AMBIANCE IN THE CAPITOLA MALL TO RECEIVE 20% OFF OF ANY HONEYDEW PURCHASE!!!
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Elle did a story on Cheryl Crow’s New York loft. Here are some of my favorite pics-
It’s open and airy but warm and inviting all at the same time. And how awesome is that bathroom with the concrete steps up to the tub?! It looks like everything in it is some vintage treasure. Check out the full post here
This afternoon I received an email from Vogue that this month they are producing their annual Age Issue. The first subject – Alexa Chung in a cream-colored chunky knit sweater. Perfection.
I have been looking around to help a friend pick out a new sofa, so I thought I would
share some of what I have found. Start drooling…
