Land Of Nod catalog. Mmm-hmm. I don’t usually think of them as having the corner on styling or unique ideas, but there were some super fun things in the fall 2011 catalog-

Simple Smart From Lonny Mag

Posted in Decor Files by Miss Circumstance on July 18, 2011

There were some fun ideas in the current issue of Lonny-

Love this simple use of two ceramic stools as a night stand

I loved the two dueling lamps in this picture, used as spot-lights to, ahem, spotlight two different trays. Takes the everyday stuff that we need, like perfume and sunglasses, and makes them beautiful.

Simple Summer Dressing

Kimono and a white v-neck= my favorite summery put-it-on-and-you’re-out-the-door-combo.

Apparently, Old People Make Fantastic Bookends

Posted in Uncategorized by Miss Pomp on July 13, 2011

I got these uh-ma-zing bookends the other day at the Clearwater Bazaar, one of my favorite places to find interesting vintage knick-knacks and art in Santa Cruz. The hubs thinks they are a bit creepy, but I LOVE them!

What do you guys think… Creepy, or totally awesome?

Check out my other favorite bookends here.

Days of Sun & Sand

Posted in Uncategorized by Miss Pomp on July 11, 2011

“Holla! We’re going to the beach to have a weenie roast! Wanna come?!”

As if I’m going to say no to that!

Spent an evening at the beach with Miss Circumstance, our hubs, and Miss C’s two little boys a bit ago. Is there anything better than weenie’s roasted over an open fire? I think not!

(Pants – G-Star, Top – Anthropologie)

The middle shot is me trying to throw my nephew in the air….something that could be done a year ago, but apparently not anymore.

Goodwill Hunting: Wicked Awesome Stuff at Goodwill Day

Posted in Decor Files by Miss Circumstance on July 8, 2011

Today the Goodwill gods where shining upon me. Too bad I didn’t actually need any of it. And too bad I don’t have funds right now in the “save it for a rainy day” category. So I took pictures of all the things that would have come home with me should I have needed them.

The structure of this table is awesome, and would look so pretty sanded and painted white, pale grey, Tiffany blue, mint green….something like that. Oh- not all those colors. Just one.

Is this a charging station?? I don’t know. But I liked it’s super shiny grey lacquered-ness.

These chairs were only 8 bucks each!! Can you believe that? I have paid so much more for ones so similar. Painted and re-upholstered, either in something subtle and beautiful like this:

Premier Prints Twill Chipper White/Storm Grey

Or something colorful and eye-popping, like this-

Anthropologie Calandria Armchair, Longshore

This puppy was huge. And it had a friend.

Here he is with his cousin, Mr. Sidetable. Who would look sweet and sort of Moroccan, painted, in a room that can handle his weighty-ness.

These were only 5.25 for the pair! Used as bookends- golden.

And these are the ones that got away. I’m totally kicking myself for not buying them. $25 for four gold faux-bamboo nesting tables?! Mashugana.

Discovering Serena and Lily

Posted in Decor Files by Miss Circumstance on July 1, 2011

I get a large jar of freak-sauce amount of catalogs that I have never heard of, let alone signed up for (a personal favorite is some weird mom gear one that has full on tent things that you cover yourself with whilst nursing. I’m not talking about the now chic hooter hider kind. I’m talking about the dentist office protective cape kind.). Anywho, I got one today called Serena & Lily, which while I have never heard of I am guessing a lot of you have.

They have some awesome stuff. It’s a bit pricey overall, but had some affordable gems. My favorite is this rug-

I swoon over this. I love the rich navy and the feather pattern. Bomb diggity.

Here’s some other things I wouldn’t mind having-

They also apparently have a bunch of original artwork. Not that I could ever afford these, but I like looking. And I continue my effort to want to culturize and hoity-toity myself up a bit and expand my “art” collection from my one awesome old school U2 concert advertisement poster, to a more well-rounded, less myself-in-my-room-circa-1990 collection. Although every good art collection has to have a classic concert poster in it, right?
