Christmas Party Time – Holla!

Posted in Fashion Files, Inspiration, Pomp Day-By-Day by Miss Pomp on December 12, 2012

This past weekend husband and I went to his company Christmas Party – which was a total blast. Husband is a programmer, so he works with a horde of mostly 40-something men, and let me tell you, those techie guys just crack me up.

Normally for this sort of event, I try to go with something a little unexpected (remember two years ago when I wore a tie with leather shorts and platforms?  Check it out here). This year, I decided to go completely classic, and what’s more classic than black and white stripes? Nothin! I borrowed Miss C’s bridesmaids dress from our wedding (I knew we’d be able to wear this sucker more than once!), added my favorite classic J. Crew gold necklace (similar here), and threw in some neon pumps to add a little bit of crazy. Get ready for a photo bomb of a happy me….

The Moment I Realized There Was A Strawberry Bar Hanging Off My Butt

You ever have one of those moments when you are outlet shopping with your sister and your nephews, and you stop by Walmart to get some school supplies for your nephews, and you’ve been walking through the store for about 40 minutes, and are just finishing up and walking out when you run your hand over your bum to smooth your shorts, and realize that there has been a giant chunk of strawberry bar hanging off your butt the whole time?

No?  Me neither….

Is There Really Any Such Thing As Too Many Stripes?

Posted in Fashion Files, Inspiration, Uncategorized by Miss Pomp on January 26, 2011

Hello, my name is Miss Pomp, and I’m addicted to stripes.

I can’t get enough of them…everytime I see something striped, it’s automatically more appealing to me than something that is not striped, and I am MUCH more likely to buy it. (Striped sheet set – check, striped shower curtain – check, striped bath mat – check, striped shirts, dresses, and pillows – check, check, check).

So, while I already own a Ca-Razy amount of striped things, I have found yet more that I am currently craving.

On the top of my striped wishlist:

Madewell Set Sail Shorts

Saint James Meridien ii tee

And I’m picturing this topping off all of my striped ensembles:

What’s on your current most wanted list?

Seriously? Still Not Warmer than 60 Degrees?

“Sun, please come out to play – My cut-off jean shorts are getting lonely sitting in my closet with no chance to be worn….”

Sincerely,

Miss Pomp

(Zooey Deschanel via Fashion Gone Rogue)

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Miss Zooey Deschanel.  I love Zooey, and have decided that from this point forward I am going to carry on as if we are on a first name basis with one another. So, today, I would like to talk a bit about my friend Zooey, and her incredibly gorgeous style.  Zooey always manages to look adorable and yet completely accessible at the same time.  The above shots are styled really simply, but all of them are featuring spot-on trends that I’m ready to jump on the wagon with!

1) White!  Happy Springtime everyone!  Break out the clean white ensembles! I especially love the full petal skirt. Amazing.

2) Stripes! Stripes were. Stripes are. Stripes will always be.

3) The boho headband.  In my opinion, it’s slightly tough to get this look right, but I’m gonna try it anyway!

4) Blush colored ensembles! I am loving the soft and feminine style of this trend (paired with my leather jacket of course).

Hey Kevin, watch my swan dive…

(can anyone name what beloved sitcom that is from??) Meet my new friends Kevin and Amanda-

I actually have no idea who they are, but I found my new friends while I was looking for some new handwriting fonts….and I found the motherload!

They have a tooooon of free fonts that are based on people’s handwriting  (called “fonts for peas”). I love them because they are not so computer generated looking. They also have a bunch of what they call “scrapbook fonts”. Here are some of my fav’s:

This is just a taste…there are so much more. Have fun:-)

How Do You Like Them Apples?

My husband and I spent a bit of time at a local fruit stand the other day.  I LOVE FRUIT STANDS.  I’m not sure quite what it is about fruit stands that I love…Maybe it’s the freshness, or it could be the vibrant colors, or maybe it’s the fact that I can buy a weeks worth of fruits and veggies for fourteen dollars…but whatever the reason, I love being there.

This was a laid-back sunny day bumming around town for us, and my look reflected it – destroyed denim cut-offs, stripes, and my go-to boots.  What are your go-to staples?

Platforms & A Carrie Bun

Posted in Fashion Files, Inspiration, Pomp Day-By-Day by Miss Pomp on April 22, 2010

These shoes are part of a line designed by Pierre Hardy (Hermes) for Gap in 2007.  Three years later, they still give me joy….and height.

This is my massive bun a la Carrie Bradshaw in Charlotte’s wedding.  I know her bun is exceptionally larger than mine, but this was as big as I could get it without adding in some fake hair.

(Shoes – Pierre Hardy Collection for Gap, Shorts – Anthropologie, Shirt – H&M, Sweater – Anthropologie, Watch – Marc By Marc Jacobs, Belt – Anthropologie)

I am a major bargain shopper.  This is particularly helpful when you take into account my penchant for designer things.  I am a lady on the lookout for a Sale sign at all times.  Anthropologie is a store that I love, that is very expensive, BUT also happens to have GREAT sales!  All three of the items worn in these photos that were purchased at Anthro were less than $30 each….

The White (& Black) Stripes…

(Dress – H&M, Watch – Marc By Marc Jacobs, Rings – F21, Boots – Frye, Sweater – BDG)

So, I realized today as I was posting these photos that I:

A) Wear these boots FAR too often

-or-

B) These boots are FAR too beautiful to not wear as often as possible

…Jury’s still out…

knee-high socks
Loose fitting spring dresses
I can’t wait to share my purchases with you!
