Miss Circumstance Birthday Wish List

Posted in Decor Files, Fashion Files by Miss Circumstance on October 15, 2012

My birthday is coming up, and my family has been asking me to put together a wish list. The weird thing is that I drew a complete blank. Like all the sudden I wanted nothing. Which we know is complete malarkey. I started remembering some stuff though, and though I am not asking for the Crown Jewels like Miss Pomp, there is a range of goodness from little to extravagant-

x2 for bedside tables. Both are from Target but I haven’t seen either in person ( the right one I will see on the 21st when Nate drops it in Target. Holla.)

My mom also got me the jacket I had been stalking for many months at Jcrew (she is really bad at waiting to give gifts. It’s been bought and worn several times already. My birthday is still two weeks away). It will look so pretty with the skirt I just bought myself ( I too am bad at waiting to give gifts. To myself.)

Introducing: A Broad Abroad!

Posted in A Broad Abroad, Fashion Files, Inspiration, Pomp Day-By-Day by Miss Pomp on May 31, 2012

You guys. Husband and I just got back from a 5 week trip to Europe. I know, crazy town. Crazier than that? While we were there, we found out we might get to go back about every 6 months or so for shorter jaunts!  While we’re not sure whether all of that will pan out or not, I’m going to move forward pretending like it’s a sure thing, and start a series about my travels titled:

A Broad Abroad

Catchy, right?

So get ready, cause we’re starting right….NOW!

Our first stop was in the South of France. We stayed in Nice, but took day trips to some fun surrounding towns. This particular day we drove to Eze, took a walk on the beach, and explored the amazing old hilltop commune. Thanks to my good friend Wikipedia, I know that Eze was first populated around 2000 BC. Holy Smokes Batman, that was a really long time ago.

My last minute DIY Halloween Costume. I had been out of the house for all of 10 minutes when I looked at husby and said “Oh no….I just realized I would totally wear this outfit on a normal day.  That makes me weird, doesn’t it?”

In other news, I picked up these awesome, sparkly silver pants at the Goodwill last week, and am planning on keeping them in my regular rotation for quite some time.

I picked up this jumper a while back at Urban Outfitters, on sale from $300 down to $30…That’s 90% off folks…and yes, to answer your question, I AM awesome at math.I love the black and cream graphic print, but my favorite feature is…The fun cutout back!  I love the shape of the cutout and the visual interest it adds, and I like that it’s not overly revealing.And….This is me, pretending to be a bullfighter. I think my portrayal is pretty convincing.

We had a token warm day last week, and I was SUPER excited to take these shorts out for a spin. I bought them almost a year ago at one of my favorite stores, Villains SF (check out the post they did on me here, and check out their resident fashionista, Ashley, here), but for some reason, had not found occasion to wear them until now.  They are a gorgeous shade of silvery lavender that feels so light and summery.

What are you guys excited to start wearing now that spring is officially upon us?

Got these awesome SUPER FLARE jeans and printed top on our most recent sisters-in-the-city trip a couple weekends ago. I went into the day with a pretty strict list of what I was looking for:

1) A pair of Super Flare Jeans

2) More pairs of flat sandals

3) Prints

4) Color, color, color!!

With the ever-so-stylish Ashley of Love Letters stomping through many a shop and many a dressing room with us, I feel like I came home with everything on my list, and SHOCKINGLY nothing extraneous!!! Let me tell you, that is nothing short of the miraculous!

I’ll share more of my city purchases in the days and weeks to come!

I refer to this jacket as my “Hawaii 5-0 jacket”. It’s silky and white, and perfectly suited for summertime.  “Too bad for you” says the weather, “I’m going to rain on you while you walk to work”.

Layering is the only way I don’t get hypothermia during the winter months. I only ever want to wear shorts, and breezy tops….so I layer, and add a cozy warm scarf and tights to every outfit, and thus don’t freeze to death.

I’m counting down to spring time.

Anthropologie’s Winter Window Display’s Are Here…

Posted in Decor Files, Inspiration by Miss Circumstance on November 15, 2010

On Saturday my friend Jennie and I took an impromptu trip to Anthropologie. With our 5 kids. Yup….we were THOSE people. The ones in the expensive store with hundreds of dollars of breakable items all around them. Shiny pretty things. I have to say overall they did pretty good-

Here they are nicely sitting on a sofa that is probably worth about 5 G’s, under a mirror that is probably worth about 2.

Anthropologie has the best kids books. I want to start getting my boys one of the books that Van is holding at each birthday, Christmas, etc. It’s a whole series of “This Is….”. Paris, New York, San Francisco. The illustrations are awesome- beautiful books.

I always wait with anticipation to see what clever idea I can steal from their window displays. This Christmas they have all these insane cuckoo clocks

It got me poking around for cuckoo clocks, cause I could certainly see one in my house:
