Etsy can be a great resource for some good old-fashioned Hollywood Glam

Bathroom Makeover

Posted in Before and After, D.I.Y., Decor Files, Inspiration, Uncategorized by Miss Pomp on June 27, 2012

Around the time that we moved into our new home, I bought grey and white paint to redo our second bathroom in stripes. That was a year and a half ago, but you know how it is – other projects are more important, you get busy, yadda yadda yadda, the bathroom stays the same. I had all the elements for the new bathroom (paint, shower curtain, art), but nothing had been done. So, when we left for Europe, our bathroom looked like this:

YOU GUYS. When we got back from Europe, our bathroom was DONE. It felt like Christmas morning. We had just gotten to go on a round-the-world adventure, and back home, my sis was doing super awesome and amazing and kind and wonderful things for us (and this was actually just one of a few). Here are the after shots that we got to come home to:

(Curtain – CB2, Art Print – Jessica’s Little Shop of Illustrations – Etsy, Frame – vintage)

I was going for a monochromatic look with a touch of fun in the art print, and I’m super stoked with how it turned out. And super stoked with Miss C doing all the manual labor 🙂

One of the things I’m reminded of when redoing spaces is that you can have a large impact without investing much money. This whole project was under $100, but the change is really drastic and fresh feeling.

Meet Vivienne

She is my newest edition to my room. She almost got called Fiona, but I think she is much more of a Vivienne, don’t you? Here she is for her close up

She is a Peggy Wolf original, found on Etsy. Peggy has MULTIPLE awesome prints. I would gladly hang several in my house. Check em’ out…

The Art Of It

Posted in Decor Files, Inspiration by Miss Circumstance on July 29, 2010

I was perusing through Etsy today, looking at people’s original art. Art is one of those things that I know I want more of, but I don’t really know anything about. I’m not even sure that I know what I like. I know nothing about the different styles or what I would even be looking for. I know that I think it can make a room, and I like it big.

Here are some that caught my eye

Leona And The Yellow Bird by Janethillstudio

Summer Light by Erintrees

Original Painting by Modphoric

French Stripes by ValerieGalloway

Dancing Isis by Andrada

Red Dress by Carol On Edge

All In A Row by Kiki and Polly

Grey Day by Kiki and Polly

So after going through and looking at these together I have come to a few conclusions:

1. Apparently I am drawn to paintings with people in them

2. Also apparently I am drawn to paintings with females in them

3. I also seem to have a thing for paintings with girls who also have no faces.

I Heart Etsy

Posted in Decor Files, Inspiration by Miss Circumstance on May 10, 2010

Etsy is great. I love that there is a forum for people who love to create, and give them a way to have their art be showcased and visible when they might not have another way to do that. Here are some current favorites:

I love this painting courtesy of kikiandpolly. I want to order it for my bathroom

I am a sucker for letterpress. I love the simplicity. There are several people on Etsy who make custom invitations, monograms, and thank notes

see...sucker! I don't know what you would do with this but it's super cute!

This seller (brokesy) does not have this available anymore, but I love it

I have a thing for big rings...

This incredible orange felt pillow. Totally duplicate-able. I found this on etsy (which, by the way, if you haven’t heard of or explored etsy.com, you need to check it out. Hmmmm…I am sensing a whole post on etsy soon). It includes a tutorial on how to make it – don’t we love that!!
