Christmas Shopping For Yourself

Posted in Fashion Files by Miss Circumstance on November 30, 2012

I headed up to the city on Tuesday, and between returns and gift cards was able to get a few things and barely had to pay for it. Holla.

Those last two items from Zara I bought for my mom to give to me for Christmas. That’s how we roll in our family. Usually my mom and my sis pick a day and spend it together picking out our own Christmas presents. It’s pretty much the best thing ever. We have fun spending time together, my moms happy to get us things we actually want, and Miss Pomp and I have fun helping each other pick things out. There’s nothing like a sister to tell you exactly how ridiculous those drop-crotch silk overalls actually look on you.

A Broad Abroad: Travel Life Through iPhone

Posted in A Broad Abroad, Inspiration by Miss Pomp on November 29, 2012

It’s funny. You lug around a huge camera for an entire trip (along with hood and flash) and then you get home and realize your favorite pictures you took were with your phone.

So, here’s some of my very favorite travel moments from the first half of Tour-de-Euro through the scope of my phone (and husbands, of course)…

Nice, France

Poop on my foot

Statue Tushy

Fresh juice to cool down in Eze, France

Gobble Gobble Jive Turkey Gobble

Posted in Fashion Files, Pomp Day-By-Day, Uncategorized by Miss Pomp on November 27, 2012

YOU GUYS. On Thanksgiving, we saw a BUNCH of wild turkeys. I’m talking like 20 of ’em, just walkin’ down the street, stopping in each yard, hangin’ out.

What the what?!

Once I started chasing them they didn’t stick around for long, but I’m telling you, it was a Thanksgiving miracle!

(Blouse – Forever 21, Pants – Gap, Jacket – Old, Shoes – Steve Madden, Hat – Old)

I hope I see 20 Santa’s walking down the middle of the street on Christmas… I’d yell “SANTA!!!” like Will Ferrell in Elf.

Sneak Peek: Pantry Makeover

Posted in Circumstance's Home, D.I.Y., Decor Files by Miss Circumstance on November 26, 2012

If you can call a hole in the wall with 3 shelves in it a pantry, I’m making mine over. I’ve been pretty obsessed with this, and this DIY Phillip Jeffries wallpaper. I’m so down with it. Zoom out of this shot and you’ll see the primer around the outside, the bottom part where the old paint is all chipped up and minus it’s doors, and the unorganized cereal boxes and school lunch boxes. But me showing you that would be like Lady Gaga stepping out for a cup of coffee in something other than an entire ensemble of theatrical pieces of clothing that have a deep meaning about the state of our society and a choice piece of wisdom about the presence that is humanity……it ain’t gonna happen.

P.S. I guess I bake things that are heavy on sugars versus flour. Entirely unsurprising.

I never buy fashion magazines. I will for sure flip through them in a book store or while I’m getting my hair done, but my jam is more the Elle Decor’s and Architectural Digest’s of the world. Well I was in a local book store the other day and I had to buy this magazine. Literally. Had to. It was out of my control. I even paid 5 bucks for it! That’s only two dollars less then I paid for my entire years subscription to Elle Decor. It was like they put some magic power in her eyes that made me keep looking at her. There is something so compelling about this picture that I had to own it, not just look at it once in a store. I want to frame it or something. Is that just weird??

Here’s another one-

Just a couple a dudes playing ping-pong. All normal like.

What pictures captivate you?

Gift Wrap Inspiration

Posted in D.I.Y., Inspiration by Miss Pomp on November 21, 2012

Holla all! I know we’re technically not even to Thanksgiving yet, but with all of the presents arriving on our front doorstep and then subsequently clogging up my closet space, I’ve realized that I have to get on wrapping those suckers stat.

Let’s get something straight here. I LOVE wrapping presents. For me, the presentation of a gift is part of the gift itself. I love having something that is not only pretty for me to look at for the few weeks that it sits under our Christmas tree, but also tells the person that gets the gift that thought and love and care were put into it.

I started with this inspiration from Grey Likes Weddings:

I LOVE this color palette, and for one gift I think it’s great. Since I will however be wrapping closer to 100 gifts (Exaggeration? Probably), I wanted a little more variety and kooky-ness, so I put together this little inspiration board:

Love it? Hate it? Think I’m crazy to already be thinking about gift wrap? Comments, people, comments!

The Easiest Pumpkin Decorating Ever

Posted in D.I.Y., Decor Files by Miss Circumstance on November 16, 2012

Halloween has long past (it’s been three weeks. That’s forever and a day ago. Sheesh), put pumpkins still can abound cause let’s not forget the much over looked Thanksgiving. This is a cheap and fast way to add some shine to your ‘kins-

I found both gold and silver thumbtacks at the dollar tree and went to town. This was for an event at our church that Miss P and I and several friends decorated. We got our diamond patterns on, our chevron patterns on, our star-fish-shape-at-the-top on…..you could spell something if you want to. This was the only one I took a picture of though. We liked mixing white and green pumpkins, and doing some pumpkins with mixed metals and some all in gold or silver. Gold and silver are friends. They can hang out.

Lonny Magazine: November 2012

Posted in Decor Files, Inspiration, Uncategorized by Miss Pomp on November 14, 2012

We here at P&C have a serious love for Lonny Mag. It’s a well documented fact. Evidence here, here, and here.

So we get pretty excited whenever a new issue comes out. In fact, I usually have to go through it a few times, because the first time I am so excited that I just scroll through at super speed to try to get to all the goodness as quick as possible.

All that to say, here are some of my favorites from the new issue…Enjoy!

Perfect outdoor dinner party setup – how perfect would this be for a really intimate wedding?

How awesome are these inspiration boards? Those gilded gold frames are a great way to turn something that could look so chaotic into something so beautiful.

Jenna Lyons’ office – she does everything right.

Perfect amounts of chaos.

Inspiration board in the office of Jack Gerson of Coach.

How awesome are those massive horns? LOVE.

Thirty Days Of Thanksgiving

Posted in Inspiration by Miss Circumstance on November 5, 2012

I started doing this on Instagram last week. I love it. I love that at the end I will have a photo diary to remember, and what I’ve found is that it causes me to stop and be grateful for things I would have overlooked being grateful for.

DAY #1 Grateful For Where I Live.

I live in an amazingly beautiful town, where there happens to be a big-deal of a surfing contest happening (so I hear), and I just get to drive two minutes to check it out. Beauty.

DAY #2 Grateful For Teachers Who Teach My Kids To Read and Write

It’s amazing to watch a human learning such a used-every-minute-of-every-day skill like reading. I love it.

DAY #3 Grateful For 80 Degree Weather In November

Yeah. Went to the beach yesterday. My life is good.

Follow me on Instagram to check out the rest over the month of November. I’m misscircumstance.
